Healthy Omega3 Supplements - 9 Types

Corey Rozon asked:
Omega3 and Omega6 work together in the body, however a balance of 1:1 is required for optimal performance. Our modern diets of processed foods and oils are already so high in Omega6 that some doctors are saying the ratio can be anywhere from 1:20 to 1:60. In order to get the balance into a healthier range you have to increase your intake of Omega3. One of the easiest ways to increase your intake is through Omega3 supplements.
The following is a list of 9 of the most popular Omega3 supplements on the market today:
1. Omega3 Supplements from Hemp Oil
Hemp oil is high in essential fatty acids. In fact 30-35% of the weight of a hemp seed is oil, which contains the essential fatty acids linolenic acid (LA), alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) and gamma-linolenic acid (GLA).
2. Omega3 Supplements from Flaxseed Oil
Flaxseed oil contains high levels of Omega3 fatty acids, especially alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), which is beneficial for reducing inflammation and is also required for normal infant development.
3. Omega3 Supplements from Fish Oil
Fish oil contains the Omega3 fatty acids, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), which help to reduce inflammation throughout the body. Fish oil can be made using a variety of species such as salmon, tuna, sardines and anchovies as well as other types of fish.
4. Omega3 Supplements from Salmon Oil
Much like fish oil, salmon oil contains the Omega3 essential fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). The difference being salmon oil supplements are made only using farmed or wild salmon.
5. Omega3 Supplements from Krill Oil
Krill oil is made from krill, a shrimp-like marine animal that is typically eaten by whales and seals. Krill oil contains the Omega3 essential fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).
6. Omega3 Supplements from Cod Liver Oil
Cod liver oil contains high levels of Vitamin A and D as well as the Omega3 fatty acids, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Although there is a risk of toxins when consuming fish in any form, it must be warned that since the liver acts as a filter, cod liver oil has a higher risk of being contaminated with toxins such as mercury and PCBs.
7. Omega3 Supplements from Shark Liver Oil
Shark liver oil is rich vitamins A and D, and the Omega3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). However much like Cod liver oil, there is a higher chance of contamination of toxins such as mercury and PCBs.
8. Omega3 Supplements from Emu Oil
Emu oil has been used for thousands of years as a natural medicine by the Aborigines of Australia. With its high concentration of linolenic acid (LA) and oleic acid (OA), Emu oil can be used internally for its healing Omega3, 6, and 9 properties.
9. Omega3 Supplements from Seal Oil
Omega3 supplements from seal oil are the only type of supplement that contains all three Omega3 essential fatty acids: eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), and docosapentaenoic acid (DPA). All three Omega3’s (EPA, DHA and DPA) are present in mothers milk and are essential for growth and development.
Essential Fatty Acids are called so because they are essential to our health, but are something that our bodies cannot make. The most important and overlooked essential fatty acids that are lacking in our modern diets are the Omega3 essential fatty acids EPA, DHA and DPA.
Omega-3 Supplement: How To Choose The Right One

Larkung asked:
Essential fatty acids are crucial for the overall mental as well as physical well-being of a person. A large number of people use supplements of fish oil in order to fulfill their requirements of essential fatty acids, but vegetarian people need to find out other sources of these fatty acids.
Many people wonder if there is any omega-3 supplement that is appropriate as well as safe. For adults and children alike, an omega-3 supplement must contain pharmaceutical grade or molecularly distilled fish oil, not from the fish that swam in the Atlantic Ocean. It is a good idea to use this supplement, especially when the diet of a family does not contain fish, as it is important for proper neurological and cardio-vascular development.
There is a huge range of omega-3 supplements available in the market today. Some of them can be consumed in the form of liquid oil, while others in the form of capsules. We all know that fish oil is one of the richest sources of omega-3 fatty acids, while other sources include vegetable oils, algae oil, harp seal oil and krill oil.
People, who can eat fish and have no allergies to them, can take fish oil supplements without doubt. The reason for this is that fish oil is the direct source of continuing fatty acids such as EPA and DHA. These fatty acids are crucial for the growth and development of body tissues and cells. These are broken down into metabolites within the body, which helps the body to fight against various diseases.
If a person experiences no side-effects or irritation after consuming fish oil, then it is the best omega-3 supplement for him or her.
People who are vegetarian and do not consume fish oil, they can also obtain their share of omega-3 from the vegetable oils. The most prominent source of these oils is the flax seed oil, which contains around 55% of the omega-3 fatty acids. The supplements of flax seed oil are also present in the market; however, flax seeds can also be eaten directly by people.
Apart from flax, the canola oil is also a good reserve of omega-3 supplement, which contains considerable amounts of anti-oxidants that helps people in lowering down their cholesterol levels.
Over-weight people, who want to cut down their dietary intake and are still experiencing some vitality, the best omega-3 supplement for such people is olive oil, which not only helps them in losing weight, but will also provide them with the required percentage of omega-3 fatty acids.
There may be some people who are not only on the search of an effective omega-3 supplement, but also want some additional nutrients for boosting up their energy levels, cod liver oil and krill oil is best for them. These oils are rich sources of Vitamin A and D, but one should look out for their dosage of these oils.
Excessive dosage of vitamin D can cause congestion in the arteries and excessive intake of vitamin A can causes the problem of acne in some people. People who are suffering from high blood pressure and diabetes are suggested to consult a qualified physician before selecting any omega-3 supplement.

How did you get over a depression period?

cheggit asked:
My question is to people who have overcome or have periodic heavy depression swings that last for weeks to months.
I have been in a low mood for the past four months going on five. I’ve never really been this depressed for such an extent of time, and so heavily. It started when I had a panic attack, quit my job, my license got suspended for missing a court date relating to insurance, getting stuck at my house for a couple months, and now being unemployed. My debt is mounting and I have no income.
I’m 18 years old and my father has manic bipolar disorder. My psychologist does not want to diagnose me this early but I think there is a good chance that I have the disorder. Right now I am prescribed to Effexor 225mg and Depakote 1000mg.
I have body pains, exhaustion, no energy, stomach aches, etc. But I am thin, fit, and young. My diet is pretty good and I drink lots of water and take vitamins with krill oil. It feels like I have some sort of nasty fluid in my body that has contaminated my being.
I’m just wondering if it is normal to feel so low in life. Each month ******* seems like more of an option. If there is a God it truthfully feels like he is making nothing work in my life, like I am being punished for something.
Please help, its hard to even stand living moment by moment. I just want it all to end so badly.
Oh look, emos can dance

This list is not exhaustive, but does cover the best supplements we feel you can take on a regular basis.
The list does not include some of the best herbs because (1) I want to do that in a separate show and (2) it’s sometimes better to take herbs on a rotational basis to give your body a break from some of them.
So here’s the top 10 supplements, take a look and tell us what you think…
