kevingianni asked:
http://www.therenegadehealthshow.com - Lisa, an astute viewer of the show, asked an incredible question about yesterday’s post…
Here it is:
“I too have heard great things about cod liver oil. However, when I consulted my chiropractor on this he said that he would advise against it because the oil is obtained from the liver, a filter where the toxins are built up and concentrated and would definitely not be healthful. Is there an alternative and why would it be done that way? Any suggestions?”
I have an answer for this as well as a routine to strengthen your wrists. Many of the exercises that I recommend are very difficult if your wrists are weak.
Take a look… (There’s also a contest for this show’s question of the day, so watch the whole thing!)

If you take a shower immediately after your sun exposure, then you wash the vitamin D off your skin before absorption. You should wait several hours to shower. Look it up!

Check the price of krill oil vs. fish oil per mg of EPA and DHA that you get per serving. Krill is 18 times more expensive per mg of EPA and DHA.

why not actually be vegan and let go of cod liver oil?

Great vid. I’m mostly a raw vegan but I do take Cod Liver Oil. In moderation, it’s an elixir up there with wheatgrass.

Hemp seeds, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds etc, are great sources of the short to medium chain omega fatty acids. However, the brain needs and uses the long chain fatty acids. Some people are not able to properly convert the short or medium chain fatty acids into the long chain fatty acids. However, there are vegetarian sources of these long chain fatty acids, found in blue green algea (ex E3 Live), purslane and algea oil. So there are vegetarian solutions that are more sustainable than cod liver oil.
