The fish oil is sterilized during the processing. This effectively kills the stench. However, you are still left with rancid sterilized oil. The fish begins to rot the moment it is out of the water.

but most of these fish oil capsules are prossesed in a non oxygen environment.
I have fish oil caps and they have been on the shelf for a while now, so if what your saying is true, the caps should stink more and more every day when you cut the caps open. and that is not the case.
